Elbert Schwartz

Elbert Levon Schwartz, UTI, U.S. Navy, (Retired). Age 75, of Hamilton, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, April 21st, 2023. He was born July 27, 1947, in Hayti, Missouri, to the late Lloyd and Omie (Williams) Schwartz, and joined the U.S. Navy right after his high school graduation. He proudly served his country as a SEABEE twice in Vietnam during the war, and retired after over twenty years of service, and four tours during war eras. Levon worked his entire life and would not hesitate to lend a helping hand to a friend or family in need. As a lifetime member, Levon also served half of his life for the VFW in Fennville, and always enjoyed the time spent with fellow veterans and families. Levon was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Schwartz; mother, Omie (Williams) Schwartz; and brother, Arnold Schwartz. He is survived by his wife, Marcia (Schreur) Schwartz; children, Victor (Dorie) Schwartz, Gina (Robert) Qualls, and Andrew (Patricia) Schwartz; brother, Charles (Diane) Schwartz; sisters, Barbara Schwartz, Dorothy Wesaw, Phillis Iliff, Sharon Schwartz; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Per Levon's wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be buried by his parents and brother. Burial will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, 311 Western Avenue, Allegan, MI, on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at VFW Post 7911, 2373 53rd Street, Fennville, MI 49408.
