Elaine Keifer

Elaine Marilyn (Boney) Keifer, age 90, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 29th, 2024. She was born January 11th, 1934, at her family home in Comstock Township, Michigan, to the late George and Ruth (Kane) Boney. At age 17 Elaine married the love of her life, Virgil Keifer. They had five children and celebrated 73 years of marriage together before Virgil passed away on April 5, 2024. In her younger years Elaine liked to line dance and before the pandemic she played bingo. Most recently she made a few trips to the casino for a night out. She will be missed dearly by family and all who knew her. Survivors include her daughters, Diana Payne and Linda McNett; son, Ronald Keifer; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 28 great great-grandchildren with two more on the way in June 2025; daughter-in-law, Tina Keifer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; daughter, Karen Keifer; son, David Keifer; son-in-law, James Payne; and siblings, Robert Waber, Eileen (Forrest) Adams, George (June) Boney, Leelon “Jake” (Pauline) Boney. Per her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial for Elaine will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Prairie View County Park, 899 E U Avenue, Vicksburg, MI 49097 at the Hill Top Shelter #3.
