Eileen Elizabeth Spohn, age 88, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday evening, March 22, 2011 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital Rehab & Nursing Center in Greenville. The daughter of Jesse & Lottie (Aylsworth) Rigdon, she was born on March 15, 1923 in Greenville.
For nearly three decades Eileen worked as the office manager at Don's Trading Post in Northtown Greenville and enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Rigdon; and two daughters, Kathleen Spohn and Joanne L. Thomas.
Surviving are a son, Robert Spohn & Sue Fitte of Six Lakes; a daughter, Jerry & David DeBoer of Greenville; her grandchildren, Andrea & Craig Taylor, Katherine & Brian Sommer, Rob & Sarah Spohn, Christopher & Shannon DeBoer, Megan & Jamar Webb, and Joel Thomas; eight great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Rigdon; and two nephews, Jim & Diane Rigdon, and Ron & Vicki Rigdon. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Eileens grandson, Pastor Rob Spohn will officiate and burial will take place later in the spring at Oakfield Township Cemetery.
