Mr. Edward William Ingersoll, 69, of rural Greenville, passed away Monday afternoon, June 29, 2009 at his home under the loving care of his family and Carson Home Hospice. The son of Clifford Raymond Sr. & Maude Kathleen (Hamilton) Ingersoll, he was born on July 20, 1939 in North Norwich, New York. On Sept. 5, 1998, in Dolgeville, New York, he married Alice Kay Jones. A veteran of the Army National Guard, Ed served for over 20 years with the 1073rd Maintenance Company in Greenville, attaining the rank of Platoon Sergeant and retired from the former Gibson Referigerator Company where he worked as a millwright. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and gambling, but most of all he delighted in building Ingersoll Park at his home on Fitzner Road where he could watch his grandchildren laugh and play. He was a member of the Stanton American Legion Post 452, the Moose Lodge and TPA Post G in Greenville, and a former member of the Eagles and Masonic Lodges. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Stanley Ingersoll, Cliff Ingersoll, and Carl Ingersoll; and a sister, Shirley Ingersoll. Surviving are his wife, Alice Ingersoll; seven children, Deborah & Doug DeVore, Brenda Ingersoll & Steve Kinyon, all of Greenville, Terry & Loretta Ingersoll of Florida, Kimberly & Ed Pett, Christine & Doug Norman all of Greenville, Melissa & Joe Dolley of Stanton, and Terry & Jill Force of Greenville; fifteen grandchildren, Josh, James & Tara, Adam, James, Tina & Ron, Heather, Brandy, Nicole, Samantha & Ty, Nathan, Jesse, Gordon, Paige, Tristan, Emma; four great grandchildren, Alia, Owen, Mike, and Gage; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth & Tom Williams, and Florence Kahler; three sisters-in-law, Claudia Ingersoll, Ruth Ingersoll-Finkbeiner, and Marjorie Ingersoll; siblings-in-law, Anna & Ray Truman, Ada & Roger Ashley, Dixie & David McCloon, Clifford Jones, Gary & Lupe Jones, Mike & Cindy Jones, Dan Jones, and Steve & Linda Jones; and many, many nieces and nephews. Memorial services are at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Ingersoll Park, 2075 Fitzner Road, Greenville, with military honors rendered by the Army National Guard. A time of food and fellowship will follow the services. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be directed to Carson Home Hospice, 406 E.
