Duanne Mcallister

Sgt. First Class Duane C. McAllister, age 45, formerly of Lakeview area, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 after a sudden illness while attending a school for R.O.T.C. instructors at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The son of Virginia Mae (Holmden) and Albert Duane McAllister, he was born on August 31, 1966 in David City, Nebraska. Following his graduation from Lakeview High School in 1986, Duane enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired from active duty in 2007. He then began a civilian career as a Reserve Officer Training Corps instructor and had taught at Grand Rapids Creston High School, as well as schools in Detroit and New Mexico. Duane was a member of the Aztec Masonic Lodge No. 3 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his step-father, O.B. Nichols in 1998; and by his father, Albert McAllister earlier this year. Surviving are his son, Daniel McAllister; his mother, Virginia Nichols of Lakeview; three sisters, Patty & Dave Swarts of Lakeview, Lawella & Paul Szweda of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Laura & Dick Crawford of Stanton; a maternal aunt, Carolyn Wilson of Howard City; his nieces and nephews, Heather Ridgell, Jason Swarts, Paige Szweda, Brooke Szweda, Stephanie Edwards, Ryan Walker, Megan Crawford, and Sara Crawford; and many cousins and dear friends.
