Dow Bivins

Dow Henry Bivins, age 73, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home. The son of Carl Aloysuis & Venus Annete (McDurman) Bivins, he was born on April 11, 1949 in Greenville. Dow retired from The Rapid transit authority in Grand Rapids, after 33 years of service, where was the maintenance director. On St. Valentines Day, February 14, 2000, in Greenville, he married Mitzi De (Acton) Kortes and together they enjoyed over 20 years of marriage. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends both at their home in Greenville and their vacation home in Ludington. He was a skilled jack of all trades and seemed to have his own unique solution to nearly any problem. Those who knew him (and those who didn't) were well aware of his gift for gab and ability to tell stories for hours. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Mitzi Bivins of Greenville; his children, Ian & Amber Burr of Sand Lake, Laesha Black of Elkhart, Indiana, Tatum Vroma of Three Rivers, Beth Pape of Enumclaw, Washington, Cameron & Rebecca Kortes of Cleveland, Ohio, Carter & Lexi Kortes of Greenville; fifteen grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Honoring his wishes, no services will be held. Instead of flowers, Dow would have appreciated contributions in his memory to fund a memorial window to install in their home, overlooking his favorite fruit trees.
