February 8, 1954 — January 12, 2024

Douglas Allen Mouw, born on February 8, 1954, in Grandville, MI, was a beacon of hope, a source of joy, and a wellspring of generosity. He was a man who lived by his favorite saying, “There’s always hope.” This thoughtful individual, known for his loving spirit and funny demeanor, impacted countless lives throughout his 69 years. Douglas was a man of resilience and courage, a steadfast pillar whose light continues to shine even in his absence. Douglas spent his career as a dedicated laborer in the automobile manufacturing industry, pouring his heart and soul into his work at General Motors before his retirement. His generosity of spirit extended beyond his professional life, as he volunteered at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. A man who truly embodied the quote "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give," Douglas was happiest when sharing his time with the veterans at the Media Library and Kozy Korner. His love for them and his tireless commitment to their well-being will forever be remembered and cherished. Douglas leaves behind a rich legacy carried on by his mother, Dolores Mouw; his daughters, Erin Minogue and Keri Wotypka; his son-in-law, James Wotypka; and his nephew, Kirk Mouw. He is preceded in death by his father, Elton Mouw. His spirit will continue to live on through the lives of those he touched. He was a testament to the power of hope, a man whose positive outlook and infectious laughter warmed every room he entered. Douglas was loved, and he will be greatly missed. We invite you to share your memories of Douglas and upload photos to his memorial page. Your stories will help paint a full picture of his life and keep his spirit alive for all to remember.
