Douglas E. Bragg, of Hudsonville, MI, died at the young age of 60 on October 16, 2019.
Born July 29, 1959 in Benton Harbor, MI during the "it takes a village era..." Douglas grew up in that -"church on Sunday's, eat what I cooked or don't eat, better be ready for school; I -will-whip-your butt-2 parent, don't- make -me -pull- this -car -over" home. His parents, Ida and Claudie Bragg (RIP) instilled the love of family & God in Douglas as with his siblings, Frances, Booker, Bennie, Sydney, Sherry and Rodney.
Douglas attended the "school of hard knocks" striking out on his own at an early age. Like a cannon-boom-I'm 18 yrs old-I'm going to do my own thing. And He did just that-"his thing"- until the end of his journey. He laughed, loved, worked, enjoyed a good drink, played his music loud, smoked, enjoyed people and life!
As his Father did with him, Douglas instilled the love of family in his own sons, "We're all we got". Doug Jr Shaun, Antwon, Jerry, Erik, he lives through you. Share your memories of your father with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and cousins through Douglas, as with all our ancestors we will always be connected -through blood and spirit.
Everyone who remembers Douglas is asked to celebrate his life by raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory ...He wouldn't want it any other way...
Following Douglas' wishes there will not bea traditional mourning service. However, despite his wishes, we will not be throwing him in a box and having a family barbecue...too cold for that.
The family will have private memorials celebrating his life over the holidays. Please continue to reach out to the family, post memories via, social media, DM's, phone calls, messages etc. We appreciate your prayers and condolences.
