Dorothy W. Weiers, age 81, of Greenville, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 13, 2010 at Metron of Greenville. The daughter of Ira & Hilda (Sievers) Conkright, she was born on June 21, 1929 in Wyoming, Michigan.
On May 7, 1959, in Grand Rapids, she married Gerald L. Jay Weiers and during her working years she owned restaurants in Ionia and Newaygo, as well as volunteering with the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jim Conkright, and Timothy Hayward; a granddaughter, Jamie Conkright-English; a brother, Patrick Conkright; and her husband, Jay Weiers on Sept. 6, 1999.
Surviving are her children, Fenton & Susan Weiers of Howard City, and Kaleen Krummick & Michael Kapuscinski of Greenville; a sister, Shirley Ondersma; two brothers, Dick Conkright and Don Conkright; her grandchildren, Joseph, Sonya, Christina, Jason, Brian, Shawn, Ann, Jennifer, and James; nineteen great grandchildren with the 20th on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday from 3-4 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. Joel Heron, pastor of Greenville Community Church, will officiate and cremation will follow the service.
