Doris Andersen

Doris E. Andersen, age 95, of Kentwood, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born in Schenectady, NY on November 3, 1927 to the late Manfred and Ellen Hoenninger. She attended Union College in Albany, NY, class of 1949. She married her husband, Daniel, on Christmas Day, 1950. She and Dan moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1953. She was fluent in Spanish and taught English and Spanish in the area school districts as a substitute teacher. Doris was an active peace advocate and marched for racial justice. She loved to play piano, and she passed her love of music on to her family. Doris always enjoyed spending time with her family. She leaves them with many memories of the times spent together at their cottage on Little Whitefish Lake, swimming, canoeing and sailing. She loved to be outdoors whether cross country skiing in winter or watching the sunsets over the lake in summer. She is survived by her children David, Donna and Donald, grandchildren Joseph, Caroline and Jonathan and great grandchildren.
