Doran Jaffas

Doran Frederick Jaffas, age 63, of Lowell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family late Monday, July 8, 2024. The son of Christian Sam Jaffas and Dorothy Jane (Crandell) Smith, he was born on April 1, 1961 in Grand Rapids. On July 1, 2013, Doran married his beloved wife, Rose Marie Thomas, marking the beginning of a love story that radiated warmth and devotion. Doran was a dedicated professional semi-truck driver, retiring from Midwest Construction Services in 2022 after many years of service. Alongside his professional life, Doran made significant contributions to his community. He founded The Vietnam Legacy Ride, a motorcycle event honoring veterans, a cause close to his heart. He also piloted a flight with The Wings of Mercy, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. Doran had a deep love for adventure, a passion evident in his many hobbies. Whether flying airplanes, riding motorcycles, or diving into a good book, his enthusiasm was infectious. Yet, despite his various interests, what mattered most to Doran was his family, friends, and beloved fur companion, Patch...his love for them was immeasurable. His heart was full of compassion, and his spirit brimming with dedication. He was a beacon of kindness and thoughtfulness, a true testament to his Christian faith, and a role model for all those fortunate enough to have known him. Doran was preceded in death by his father, Christian; his stepfather, Robert; and his faithful companion, Patch. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; his mother Dorothy; his brother Glenn; his sister, Elaine (Jim) Unrath; his children, Guadalupe Fox, Renee (Dave) Sidebotham, Clark H. Fox, and Dervis (Stephanie) Munro; and his grandchildren Kelsey (Arturo) De Alba, Bria Sidebotham, and Nora Sidebotham; two nieces, one nephew and many, many friends. Doran's life was a living embodiment of love and dedication. His compassionate spirit touched the lives of many and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
