Donald Junior Richards, age 86, of Carson City, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at home under the care of his family and Sparrow Hospice. The son of Francis L. & Katherine (Nelson) Richards, he was born on May 11, 1931, in Saginaw.
Don was a proud Korean War veteran, serving with the United States Army as a member of a Tank Battalion. On August 27, 1954, in Carson City, he married the former Janet Joyce Armbrustmacher and together they enjoyed over 62 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father in law, Ed & Emily Armbrustmacher; his siblings, Robert Richards, Mary Milko, Merle Richards, Clifford Richards, Betty Richards, and Kaye (Bill) Cooke. Surviving are his wife, Janet; his children, Donald & Carey Richards of Hubbardston, Douglas & Patti Richards of Carson City, Diane & Dick White of Crystal, David & Pat Richards of Carson City, Dale & Judy Richards of Carson City, and Jennifer Richards of Lapeer; thirteen grand children; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Milton & Glenna Richards; a sister-in-law, Beverly Richards; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation with the family is from 11am - 12pm p.m. on Thursday, June 8th at the Carson City American Legion Post # 380 (121 N Mercantile St, Carson City, MI 48811), where a celebration of Don's life will follow . The Rev. Ried Martin pastor of the Crystal Congregational Church, will officiate, and military honors will conclude the ceremonies. A luncheon will follow at the service and burial will take place privately at East Plains Cemetery.
