Donald Pitts

Donald James Pitts, age 73, of Greenville, passed away Thursday evening, April 21, 2022 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital, Greenville. The son of Wayne Dale & Joyce M. (Stadfield) Pitts, he was born on October 26, 1948 in Oakland, California while his father was serving in the United States Navy. Raised in the Remus area, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following high school and served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart medal. On July 24, 1987, in Stanton, he married Ellen Sheppard and together they enjoyed nearly 35 years of marriage. For several years he worked at the former Electrolux Home Products plant in Greenville and retired from Art Van Furniture where he worked in sales. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Sam Pitts. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Pitts of Greenville; two children, Donald Joseph "D.J." & Bridgette Pitts of York, South Carolina, and Melissa Kilts of Lake Placid, New York; five grandchildren, Katherine, Casey, Matthews, Braylon, and Brooklyn; nine brothers and sisters, Anna Wiley, Jean Brockschmidt, Mary Brady, Dorothy Thompson, Pat Pitts, Nina Dexter, Joe Pitts, Holly Tyler, and Hiram Pitts; and many nieces, nephews, and family friends. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
