Donald Nassif

May 4, 1956 — December 18, 2020

Donald Michael Nassif, age 64, of Sheridan, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at his home under the loving care of his family. The son of Donald Lee & Francine I. (Barbor) Nassif, he was born on May 4, 1956 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a proud veteran of the United States Army, Don served in the 82nd Airborne Ranger division stationed at Fort Ord, in Monterrey, California. Don later earned his bachelor's degree in Physics from San Jose State University and spent most of his life working in automotive parts manufacturing, starting off as a machine operator, then making his way into machine maintenance before eventually becoming a maintenance supervisor. He changed careers later on in his life and spent the last decade of his working career as a corrections officer with the Montcalm County Sheriff's Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing fetch with his faithful dog Tank, and listening to extremely loud blues music deep into the evening hours on weekends (with his family often joining him in this venture!). Don lead an extremely active life and took part in anything he could that supported his family and his community. He was a Boy Scout troop leader for many years while his son was involved in the Scouts. He was a long-time member of the Sheridan Lions Club, and he volunteered regularly at the local VFW, usually bringing the Boy Scouts along with him! He was also involved deeply with the Stanton Freemasons, Star Lodge #250, serving as the lodge Worshipful Master for five years. Don stayed heavily involved with the Masons up until he began to fall ill. While in the Army, Don met a woman on a blind date in Virginia City, Nevada that was "definitely not his type." However, on November 13, 1976, in Reno, Nevada, he married that woman, Jeannine Sicka, and together they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. They had three children, Brandon, Nicholas, and Sherry, and they loved their children more than anything. Don and Jeannine recently became grandparents, when their daughter gave birth to two boys, Brandon and Dakota. Don loved his grandsons to the moon and back, and made so many happy memories with them in the time he spent with them! Surviving Don are his wife, Jeannine Nassif of Sheridan; their children, Nicholas & Camryn Nassif of Sparta, and Sherry & Nathan Smith of Howard City; his grandsons, Brandon Smith and Dakota Smith of Howard City; his mother, Francine Nassif of Pierson; his twin brother, Dave & Munci Nassif of Dorr; his sister, Sherry & Ben Herr of Hamilton; and his brother Joe & Jackie Nassif of Wyoming. Don requested not to have a funeral and instead there will be a life celebration event in the summer of 2021 in remembrance of Don. The family is not seeking flower or donation contributions.
