Donald Edward Moran, age 87, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 07, 2021. He was born on December 29, 1933, in Muskegon, to the late Cyril and Agnes (O'Shinksi) Moran. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959. He studied at Western Michigan University and received his Master's Degree in August of 1963.
Don married Dolores Helen Wade on November 11, 1961, in Muskegon, Michigan. Together they raised two sons and celebrated 47 years of marriage before Dolores passed away on April 17, 2009.
Don worked his entire career in the education field. He started as a language arts instructor at Ravenna High School. He then convinced the district they needed an Assistant Superintendent and proceeded to fill that role. He retired from Ravenna after 28 years and spent six more years as Principal at St. Michael's, Coopersville before retiring for good. He supplemented his income by working as a driver's training instructor and officiating at high school sporting events including basketball, baseball and wrestling. He was an avid tennis player, often playing twice a week at a local tennis club. He also enjoyed going to casinos and playing the slot machines.
Don had a knack for organization and public speaking which led to his being asked to organize and act as master of ceremonies at many events in college and as a member of the Ravenna Lions Club and Tatra Hall in Muskegon.
Survivors include his two sons, Donald (Kim) Moran Jr. and Wade (Cherrill) Moran; grandchildren, Sean and Collin Moran; step-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Patricia (Feliczak) Reminga; brothers, William, Michael, and David Moran; and sisters, Patricia and Rose-Marie.
