Obituary

Donald Lee Larsen, Sr., age 76, of Stanton, Michigan, passed away Monday evening, April 13, 2026 at Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after a brief but brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

The son of Robert “Cobb” & Leona (Lund) Larsen, he was born on August 19, 1949 in Greenville, Michigan, was a 1967 graduate of Central Montcalm High School and had graduated from Montcalm Community College with an associate’s degree in automotive technology, which he used the rest of his life. Don worked in transportation for both Central Montcalm Public Schools (19 years) and the Montcalm Intermediate School District (14 years).

On July 26, 1969, he married Lois Carol Dehnert and together they enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage and were members of Entrican Bible Church, where Don was head deacon, ran the sound system, and was an Awana leader for many years. Don also served as cemetery sexton at Entrican Cemetery (51 years) and South Sidney Cemetery (18 years), where he and Lois prepared, cared for, and tended to the graves of many. In retirement, they enjoyed rebuilding and restoring classic and antique cars and square body pick-ups… or as Don said, “Bringing them back to life!”

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Christopher William Larsen; a granddaughter, Caitlyn Marie Larsen; two brothers, Robert (Kathy) Larsen and Fred Larsen; two sisters, Betty (Jerry) Ross and Joyce (Gene) Tefft; and three brothers-in-laws; Robert Dehnert, Edward Dehnert and Darwin Dehnert.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Larsen of Stanton; their son, Don Larsen, Jr. & Michelle Sowers of Carson City; five grandchildren, Tyler Larsen, Jarett & Hailee Larsen, Keegan Larsen, Paige Larsen, and Payton Larsen; three great-grandchildren, Iris, Jake, and Levi; two sisters-in-law; JoAnn Dehnert and Phyllis Dehnert; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family is from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Entrican Bible Church, 3899 N. Grow Road, Stanton, Michigan 48888, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
