Donald Arthur King, 89, of Saranac, passed away on September 17, 2011 at home surrounded by family after a long illness. Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Janet J. King; and his five children, Donald II (Suzanne) King, Patricia King, all of Detroit, Alice (Robert) Brown of Toledo, OH, Cynthia (Daryl) Jackson of Elyria, OH, and Daniel (Cindy) King of Minneapolis, MN; and two step-daughters, Brenda (Don) Beezley of Stevensville, and Kathy Carlson of Saranac. He will also be greatly missed by his 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A decorated and disabled veteran of World War II, Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from The Elyria General Motors Plant after 25 years and was an avid genealogy enthusiast... spending hours recording the family history. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, golfing and spending time with his family. Donald greatly enjoyed the winters he spent in Florida. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22nd at the Central United Methodist Church, 912 Fourth Avenue, Lake Odessa, where Don was a member. Pastor Eric Beck will officiate and visitation with Donald's family will be one hour prior to the service. A private internment ceremony will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima, Ohio on Friday, September 23rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Spectrum Health Hospice in appreciation of their support.
