Obituary

Donald Arthur Howland, age 86, of Cedar Springs, Michigan, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026 at his home (that his parents purchased in 1940) under the loving care of his family and Corewell Health Hospice.

The son of Arthur Claude & Beatrice Beryl (Tucker) Howland, he was born on April 17, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

On October 31, 1991, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he married Sally Anne Noble and together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage. Don retired from a career in recycling management and enjoyed dancing, music, spending time with his friends at his favorite “watering hole”, golfing, bird watching (mostly feeding), and most of all tootling around the lake with family, friends and his best buddy Archie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Howland and sister-in-law Lois Howland; and a nephew, Dick Howland.

Surviving are his wife, Sally Howland of Cedar Springs; his children, Melissa (Booger) Day of Holland Michigan, Brian & Carissa Howland of Phoenix, Arizona, Jason & Colleen Howland of McKinney, Texas, Chad and Tonya of Springfield, Missouri, Jared and Darcy Noble of Caledonia, Michigan, and Jack O’Brien of Huntington Beach, California; twelve grandchildren, Eric and Ashley Day, Nanea, Phoenix, Sayla, and Jace Howland, Kaden, Price, Josie, Brianna, Deven, and Gavin Noble; three great-grandsons, Sylus Day, Cooper-Ray Day, and Jaxson Noble; a brother, Phil Howland; several nieces and nephews, Ruth Howland, Rebecca (Russell) Peterson, Ralph (wife Nancy) Howland, Sheena Papadopoules (husband Zack),
