Donald Gilbert Thompson

In Loving Memory of Donald Gilbert Thompson September 12, 1938 – September 17, 2026 

With love and sorrow, yet comforted by the promises of Jesus Christ, we announce the passing of Donald Gilbert Thompson, who went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2026, at the age of 88. 

Donald was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and brother. His greatest joy was his family, and his kindness, faith, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. A proud United States Army veteran, Donald spent most of his working life as a salesman. He enjoyed golfing and cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs. 

He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Thompson; son, Scott Thompson; daughter, Wendi, and son-in-law, Sean Murphy; grandchildren Jacob and Lauren Murphy, Amber and Kaden Kempker, and Mariah Murphy; great grandchildren Edyn, Cam , Emmie and Makhi, brother Denny and sister-in-law Sheri Thompson; sister Linda and brother-in-law Howard Edema; along with extended family and dear friends. 

We take comfort in knowing Donald is now resting in the loving arms of his Savior and look forward to the day we meet again in Heaven. A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date, when family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Details will be announced at a later time. Memorial donations may be made to Corewell Hospice or Sunset Manor.
