Don Smith has tap danced his way into his next great adventure. He was always up for an adventure, the more spontaneous the better. From Ronald MacDonald and host of the Ken and Don Show, to actor, to tap dancer extraordinaire and teacher, Don was an entertainer at heart. He was also the owner of the Hair and Skin Clinic of Michigan.

Don was a fierce advocate for all, especially his children, showing his unconditional love and support for all of their various dreams and endeavors. A champion for the underdog and a staunch supporter of the LBGTQ+ community, he was truly a man ahead of his time. He was forever dedicated to his wife Nancy who was faithfully by his side for 60 years.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Marie Clancy Smith and Donald M Smith and his brother George Smith; also his brother-in-law James Bendix, who became another brother to him.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Nancy Bendix Smith and his children, Kevin, Shawn (Lori), Amanda (Greg), and Emilie and his grandchildren Kayleigh (Caben), Alex (Hope), Noah, and Miriam.

The family would like to thank the team from Emmanuel Hospice, and especially the Memory Care Unit from Beacon Hill at Eastgate for their extraordinary love and care.

A celebration of life open house will take place at Beacon Hill at Eastgate auditorium on August 15 from 2-4 pm.
