Donald "Buck" Eugene Fannon, age 84, of Hudsonville, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 9, 2023. He was born June 22, 1939, in Comstock Park, MI, to the late Eugene and Margaret (Schut) Fannon. Buck met the love of his life in his early years and never looked back. He married Peggy Ann Trethewey on February 20, 1959, at Hudsonville Baptist Church. Together they had 4 boys; Scott, Greg, Kim Alan, and Bryant ("Moose").
Buck was an honest man of few words and strong convictions. He loved the Lord and his family. Buck had a lifelong career in the tool and die business where he worked side by side with his son, Greg for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and excelled at traditional archery. Buck enjoyed spending time with his family. His wife, sons, and grandchildren meant the world to him. He and Peg would often take the grandkids to the cabin for the weekend where they would do all things outdoors; hunting, fishing, and walking through the woods. These were things he instilled in his children and grandchildren as a way of life. He took great pride in watching and passing on his knowledge of archery and the great outdoors. It brought a smile to his face to have one of the kids stop by with a package for him from a hunting or fishing trip.
Buck is survived by his wife, Peg of nearly 65 years, his sons, Scott (Aida), Greg (Stacy), and Bryant (Barb) Fannon; daughter-in-law, Tamrah Fannon; grandchildren, Chad (Betsy), Kyle, Cory (Amanda), and Devon (Kelsey) Fannon, Mariah (Ben) Helsen, Keegan, Samantha, and Zachary Fannon; and six great-grandchildren; Tristan, Keira, Landon, Greyson, Lennox, Aidan.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kim Alan Fannon; and brother, James Fannon.
Gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue S.E. at 36th Street (one block west of Eastern Avenue), Grand Rapids, with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
