Dick D. Almy II, age 48, formerly of Stanton, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Continuing Care, Grand Rapids. The son of Dick Donovan & Diane Kay (Kiste) Almy, he was born on Oct. 10, 1960 in Greenville.
On July 31, 1982, in Greenville, he married Brenda Sue Sherburne. Dick enjoyed working on cars, hunting and fishing, and painting, however, he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Almy, on Nov. 3, 2002; his mother, Diane Almy, on Nov. 24, 2008; and his father-in-law, Martin Sherburne, on Jan. 3, 2000.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Almy of Ionia; his children, Yulonda Almy & Steven Balk of Grand Rapids, Jessica & Paul Mikulski of Carson City, Howard & Jennifer Almy of Six Lakes, Joseph Almy of Grand Rapids, and Kimberly Almy of Ionia;; his grandchildren, Tyler, Billy, A.J. and Tess Almy, Brock Mikulski, Ryelea Almy, and Toby and Catharine Almy; three sisters, Debra Morden, Marjorie (Lewis Jr.) Miller, and Charlotte Kellams; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack & Vanita Almy; mother-in-law, Jane Sherburne; siblings-in-law, Howard (Wilma) Sherburne, Beth (Dale) Miller, Martin (Sherry) Sherburne, Roland (Julie) Sherburne, Kathy (Chuck) Sherburne, John (Betty) Sherburne, Walter (Mary) Sherburne, and Randy Sherburne; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and private family committal services will be held at Cato Township Cemetery near Lakeview.
