Diane E. Byrne, age 69, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026. Born on June 22, 1956, in Kalamazoo, she was the daughter of Andy J. and Clara B. (Clark) Gregor.
Diane was part of a large and loving family, cherished by her eight siblings and many nieces and nephews. She is remembered by her sisters Carol (Tom) Seaver of Kimball, MI; Julie (Fritz) Teutsch of Schoolcraft, MI; Marian (Matthew Kerwin) Gregor of Chelsea, MI; Jeannie (Bill) Grashorn of Granger, IN; and Jane K. (Chris) Tomilo (deceased), along with sister-in-law LouAnn Tomilo of Gobles, MI. Her brothers include Bill (Marcia) Gregor of Kalamazoo, MI; Fr. Peter Gregor, a missionary in Honduras; and Dr. CJ (Wendy) Gregor of Portage, MI.
A graduate of Western Michigan University, Diane built a successful career as an executive assistant at UpJohn and later with Pharmacia. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Diane had a deep love for nature and animals. She especially adored her horse Meg and her beloved cats. Diane also volunteered at The Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center, reflecting her compassionate spirit.
Blessed with a beautiful singing voice inherited from her mother, Diane shared her gift at St. Thomas More Church and through local theater productions. Her vibrant energy could light up any room, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
In honor of Diane’s life and her love for animals, memorial donations may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 27, 2026, at St. Thomas More Church in Kalamazoo. Diane will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
