Delbert L. Tewksbury, age 82, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Monday, June 8. 2015 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
The son of LaVern & Rosetta (Beadle) Tewksbury, he was born on May 7, 1933 in Tuscola County. Delbert was the oldest of six children. He graduated from Dye High School, served in the US Army, was employed by AC Spark Plug in Flint Michigan, and was also self-employed as Del Tewksbury Excavating thereafter. He enjoyed fast pitch softball, snowmobiling, bowling, and karaoke. Surviving are daughters; Kathryn Phillips, Karen, (Charles) Johnson, and a son, Kurt, Five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews and a very special step daughter, Vicky (Ron Jr.) Prevo and step sons, Tim and Rick Woolston. Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; parents; and sister, Joan.
Visitation will be at noon with the service beginning at 1 pm, on Monday, June 15, 2015 in the Chapel at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for distribution to various departments of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans or made directly to the Grand Rapids Veterans Home.
Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
