Dawnette Hantz

Dawnette Marie Hantz, age 58, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022, after a battle with cancer. She was born August 3, 1963, in Battle Creek to the late JD Pifer and Demaris Mills. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the class of 1981 and worked at KFC during high school with her great friend, Kyle Ploehn who she was still friends with. After school Dawnette worked for Jim's flower shop for over 20 years before she went to school at Everest Institute to become a medical assistant. She went on to work for Oaklawn Medical for 5 years and then to Hi-Lex America for the last 7 years before she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Dawnette battled the last 7 months with the cancer before it took her. In her time away from work, Dawnette enjoyed diamond painting, playing bingo, reading, kayaking and most of all, spending time with her grandkids. Survivors include her three sons, Archie (Kristi) Hantz, Floyd (Alisha) Hantz, and Jeremy Hantz; grandchildren, Archie Hantz II, Audrey, Isaac, Drake, Everly and Rowan Hantz; great-granddaughter, Paisleigh Hantz; brother, Mitch Pifer; and sisters, Pam Bedient, Dee Rogers, and Rhonda Yates. Per her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being planned and details will be announced as soon as they become available. Dawnette's family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Glenn Arbor Hospice for their care and compassion shown throughout this difficult time.
