Davidallen Phillips

August 10, 1946 — February 13, 2025

Davidallen Lee Phillips, known fondly by many as Dave or David, was born on August 10, 1946, in Muskegon, Michigan. He passed away on February 13, 2025, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family. Davidallen was a humble man, choosing to let his actions speak louder than his words. His loyalty was a beacon, guiding his actions, and his reliability was a comforting constant to those who knew him. David spent his working years as a welder, proving his resilience and strength daily in the demanding field of metal processing. He retired from Benteler, carrying with him a well-earned reputation for reliability and hard work. Yet, his life was not all work and no play. David was a man of many hobbies, his favorite being people-watching, often accompanied by a cup of coffee from the Truck Stop. He also found joy in bowling, working on cars, camping, fishing, and watching Nascar. His love for these simple pleasures was infectious, bringing joy to those around him. "He didn't tell me how to live," said Clarence Budington Kelland, "he lived, and let me watch him do it." This quote aptly defines Dave's approach to life. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. What mattered most to him were his children and grandchildren; their happiness was his greatest achievement. Even amidst the chaos of family gatherings, Dave was a steadfast presence, the quiet pillar upon which his family was built. David is survived by his loving wife, Edith Phillips, with whom he shared almost 29 years of marriage. He leaves behind his children Davidallen JR, Marvin (Kathy), Joe (June), Nancy (Doug), Amanda, Elizabeth and Rebecca (Brent). He was a cherished grandfather to Megan, Zachary, Katie, Haley, Matthew, Clayton, Brexton, Jerell, Elijah, Presley, Jayden, Izaak, Dominik, Octavia, Jaxen, Trevin, Kaylyn, Casey, Chris, Hunter, Crystal (Mark), Dustin, Fred, and Justin. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Navaeh and Weston. David was preceded in death by his sons Scott Phillips and Joseph Wiggins, his parents David Phillips and Elnora Gould, and his in-laws Helen and William Barth.
