David George Versluis, age 68, of Sand Lake, passed away at home on Monday, December 13, 2021. The son of Gordon Wayne & Jacqueline (Hanson) Versluis, he was born on April 16, 1953 in Grand Rapids. David retired from Oven Fresh Bakery, where he worked as a driver, after 32 years of service.
David enjoyed fishing with his brother, Wayne, and hunting. He delighted in being in the semi, especially his trips up north, and loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren on the boat. A member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Sand Lake, he also had a passion for all his dogs. A humble man, he found peace and happiness in seeing his family and friends fulfilled and secured. This drove his passion to work hard and give to those who needed it.
On October 15, 2000 in Grand Rapids, he married Cheryl Lee Harper and together they enjoyed 20 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Robin Versluis; a brother, Wayne Versluis; a son, Jason "Bubba" Versluis; and a daughter, Victoria Vanderploeg.
Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Versluis; a brother, Rocky Versluis; a son, Dustin Stewart; grandchildren, Brandonn Stewart, Amber Oostdyke, Ryan Vanderploeg, Serenity Stewart, Mckayla Versluis, and Mckenzie Versluis; great-grandchildren, Trenton Butler, Brayden Butler, and Gavin Stewart.
