David Ranville, age 76, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids.
He was born October 18, 1948, in Flint MI, to Richard & Mary Ranville.
He attended St. Mary High School in Flint, MI., where he played on a championship football team.
He worked briefly for Grinell Fire Protection throughout Michigan before entering the Air Force.
David proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for over 14 years until his honorable discharge. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He was discharged honorably with service-related medical issues.
He worked at General Mills in Hannibal, Mo. until his retirement in 2013.
In 2017 David moved to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, where he was well regarded and had many friends.
He enjoyed golf, fishing and bowling.
Survivors include his adult children, Lisa, David Paul, Dan and Preston; brothers, Richard (Ramona), Timothy (Deborah), Dennis (Jane), Michael and Paul; Sister, Lynda Bentley (Mark). Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Donnelly); Father, Richard, Sr.; aunt, Arlene (Ranville) Russell; and sister, Kathleen (Ranville) Manning.
Burial and military honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
