David Powers

David Wayne Powers, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Burcham Hills Retirement Center in East Lansing, MI. He was born November 4, 1950 in Lansing, MI to Pleas and Ruby (Adkins) Powers. He is survived by sisters, Barbara (Robert Sr.) Hammond and Joyce Pearson, sister-in-law Karen (Darin) Martell, nieces Victoria (Brian) Merrow, Maylynn Hammond, Dianna Hammond, Alysia (John) Gardner, Amber Pearson, and nephews Robert (Crystal) Hammond Jr., Justin (Sonia) Pearson, Brandon Pearson, Nathan (Alyssa) Powers Jr., Anthony Powersand many great-nieces, great- nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. David was predeceased by his parents, Pleas and Ruby Powers, brother Nathan Powers Sr. and brother-in-law Gary Pearson. David loved to travel. He enjoyed autobiographies, history and learning about the events related to the sinking of the Titanic. He moved home from California to help take care of his mom in her last days. After her passing, he moved into his sister Joyce's home. As David's health began to fail, Joyce took care of him until he needed nursing home care. Our appreciation to Burcham Hills Retirement Center and Hospice for making his last days as comfortable as possible. The family would like to say thank you to everyone who sent cards and always asked how David was doing. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place June 24, 2023 at the home of Alysia and John Gardner (Joyce's daughter and son-in-law), 1302 Red Leaf Lane, East Lansing, MI 48823. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm with a luncheon immediately following. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006.
