David Floyd Anthony Gillett

David Floyd Anthony Gillett, age 82, of Greenville, Michigan, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 10. 2025 at Green Acres of Greenville. The son of Floyd Edge & Eleanor Ruth (Peterson) Gillett, he was born on August 28, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

When his college education was interrupted by a draft notice, David proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and he served during the during the Vietnam War era and attained the rank of sergeant.

On January 29, 1972, at Lake Lansing Baptist Church in Okemos, Michigan, he married Wanda Marie Green and together they raised three sons, enjoyed nearly 54 years of marriage, were long-time members of Oakfield Baptist Church, and owned and operated The Village Bookcase in downtown Greenville for over 20 years.

David also worked for Rockford Public Schools in addition to running the book store, had served as financial secretary, a deacon, and as an adult AWANA leader at Oakfield Baptist Church, and enjoyed collecting books, stamps, and coins.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Wanda Gillett of Greenville; their three sons, Steven & Connie Gillett of Marion, Indiana, Craig & Christine Gillett of Avon, Indiana, and Eric Gillett of Garden City, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren, Isaac, Josiah, Benjamin, Rachel, Jasmine, Elizabeth, Angelica, Enoch, Malakai, Matthew, Michael, Jacob, Hailey, Spencer, and Lydia; a great-grandson, Kyland; a brother, Robert & Janice Gillett; siblings-in-law, LRoy & Patrice Green, Margie & James Walker, and Brenda & Mitchell Wojtacha; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Oakfield Baptist Church, 11128 14 Mile Road N.E. (Highway M-57), Rockford, Michigan, with committal prayers and military honors at 12:00 Noon on Saturday. Pastor Chris Minor will officiate and military honors will be rendered jointly by the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
