David Edward Fisher, age 77, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, July 3, 2019 at Metron of Greenville with his wife at his side and under the care of Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Carl Wilbur & Dorothy Violet (Mackie) Fisher, he was born on June 30, 1942 in Lansing.
On September 11, 1965, in Greenville, he married Marcia Jean Lane and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage and raised two sons. A journeyman tool and die maker, David retired from General Motors after 32 years of service at the 36th Street plant in Wyoming, where he was a member of UAW Local 730. Even outside of work, David had a passion for automobiles (that he shared with his sons) and was a member of the Flat River Antique Auto Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Marcia Fisher of Greenville; their two sons, Richard Fisher of Greenville and James & Cathy Fisher of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; a grandson, Ethan Fisher; a granddaughter, Alanna Fisher, both of Greenville; his twin brother, Donald & Gail Fisher of Grand Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Muriel Amos and Sondra Cooper, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Private committal services will take place at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Honoring David's wishes, cremation has taken place. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions to the Clay Street Center, 913 S.Clay Street, Greenville, MI 48838 would be appreciated.
