In Loving Memory of David Allen Engle
David Allen Engle, age 59, of the Greenville and Gowen area, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at home after a brief but mighty battle with cancer.
Dave was a kind, generous, and hardworking man whose heart was always with the people he loved. He was the kind of person who would show up whenever someone needed him, without hesitation or expectation of anything in return.
Family and friends were never an afterthought to Dave. They came first, always. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply someone to be there, Dave could be counted on.
One of Dave’s greatest passions was rebuilding old-school muscle cars. He loved bringing classic cars back to life, appreciating the craftsmanship, character, and memories behind them. He also had a special place in his heart for animals. Over the years, Dave rescued countless cats and dogs, giving them love, care, and a safe place when they needed it most. His compassion knew no bounds, and he never hesitated to help an animal in need. It was simply who he was.
But his greatest pride was the people in his life. He was an amazing father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
Dave leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and will carry his memory with them always. He is survived by his life partner Angela Black; his daughters, Janelle Engle and Amanda Lugo; his grandsons, Evan Engle, Austin Engle, and Rhys Lugo; stepchildren, Joshua Ingersoll and Samantha Wert-Black, step grandchildren Gage Fleck and Helena Hall; his mother, Emily Jo James; and his siblings, Cheryl, Bob, Doreen, Harold, and Jessie.
Though our time with Dave was not long enough, the memories, love, laughter, and lessons he leaves behind will remain forever. His generosity, his willingness to help others, his love for his family, and his compassion for animals will never be forgotten.
Dave’s life was measured not just by the years he lived, but by the people he loved, the animals he saved, and the lives he made better along the way.
A celebration of Dave’s life is being planned for the spring of 2027 and details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Always with us.
