David Richard Duncan, age 67, of Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, March 12, 2017 at his home under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice.
The son of Richard Duncan & Betty Lois (Ingersoll) Cooper, he was born on November 5, 1949 in Greenville. A talented musician, David's lifelong work and passion was playing the guitar and harmonica and he enjoyed being a performer. He had a large following of people who enjoyed his music.
David also enjoyed photography, nature, and golf. He was fortunate to spend his days on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia as the captain of his houseboat "The Big Easy". David touched many lives with his friendship and spirit of adventure.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Duncan. Surviving are his mother, Betty Cooper of Holland; his soulmate, Mary Wharram; a daughter and son-in-law, Adriane & Jason Essex of Ada; a granddaughter, Paige Nielsen; a grandson, Asher Ruth; a brother and sister-in-law, Phillip & Nancy Lawrence of Greenville; a sister and brother-in-law, Kim & Richard Kubiak of Holland; and several nieces and nephews.
