David Alfred Curtis, age 88, of Ada, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on Monday, November 27, 2023. He was born March 12, 1935, in Detroit, MI, to the late Percy Halsey and Mary Etta (Coughlin) Curtis. Dave graduated from Catholic Central High School with the class of 1953. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in Germany.
He married Catherine Margaret MacFarlane on June 18, 1977, in Livonia, Michigan. Together they celebrated 42 years of marriage before Catherine passed away on October 8, 2019. Being an avid fan of the University of Michigan, he enjoyed discussing games, wins, just about anything with friends, family and his lifelong friends from Catholic Central.
He cherished his friendships from Thornapple Community, Calvert Church and MVP. His wonderful neighbors that looked after him in his later years gave him a secure sense of community and support.
David is survived by his step-daughter, Carol (Don) Vogelsburg; grandchildren, Luke Vogelsburg and Lindsay Young; great-granddaughter, Millicent Margaret; six nieces and nephews, Mark (Judi) Wharton, Mary (Ron) Short, Paul (Marsha) Wharton, Laura (Cliff) Oleszko, Annmarie (Jeff) Wallace, and Claudia Curtis; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; brother, Jack Curtis and sister, Rosemary Wharton.
