Darlene Richmond

Darlene Evette Richmond, age 49, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 23, 2016. The eleventh child and the baby of the family, she was born to Carl A. & Marilyn (Trammell) Richmond on January 5, 1967 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Darlene was baptized by the Rev. William C. Abney at Bethel Pentecostal at a young age. She attended Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, where she graduated in 1985. Darlene was very proud of receiving her skilled tradesman and blue printing training from Blackmer Pump, where she worked for many years. Darlene was known for her beautiful smile, high spirit, and being a caring and loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. One of Darlene's most cherished pastimes was feeding the ducks with her grandson, and also liked candles, taking pictures and collecting cupcakes... she was known as the "Cupcake Lady". Surviving are two sons, William Rashaad Hairston-Richmond, and Darrius Devante Hairston-Richmond Sr.; a grandson, Darrius Devante Hairston-Richmond Jr.; five sisters, Sarah & Joe Scott of Baltimore, Maryland, Leona & Candy Richmond-Woods, Sherrie & Kevin Gillespie, Laureen "Renie" Richmond, and Robin Richmond-Belton, all of Grand Rapids; four brothers, Allen Wells of Bristol, Tennessee, Carl H. & Alison Richmond of Hague, Virginia, David & Cascella Brandon of Lansing, and Wendell Richmond of Muskegon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends that she loved dearly. Also surviving are "her honey", Cale Rambo; and her best friend, Lolita "Cookie" Grant, and her husband Eric. Surviving are two sons, William Rashaad Hairston-Richmond, and Darrius Devante Hairston-Richmond Sr.; a grandson, Darrius Devante Hairston-Richmond Jr.; five sisters, Sarah & Joe Scott of Baltimore, Maryland, Leona & Candy Richmond-Woods, Sherrie & Kevin Gillespie, Laureen "Renie" Richmond, and Robin Richmond-Belton, all of Grand Rapids; four brothers, Allen Wells of Bristol, Tennessee, Carl H. & Alison Richmond of Hague, Virginia, David & Cascella Brandon of Lansing, and Wendell Richmond of Muskegon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends that she loved dearly. Also surviving are "her honey", Cale Rambo; and her best friend, Lolita "Cookie" Grant, and her husband Eric. Darlene will always be remembered for her uplifting Facebook posts: "Good morning everyone! I pray for you and your loved ones. Be blessed with good health and peace of mind.
