Darlene Ann Loughin, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, November 26, 2023 at Mission Point of Belding under the care of Hospice of Michigan.
The daughter of Leslie & Adeline (Steffen) Brown, she was born on February 6, 1937 in Greenville. On September 26, 1953, in Belding, she married David James Loughin and together they had four children and enjoyed almost fifty years of marriage until David passed away on April 28, 2003.
Darlene enjoyed a seasonal camping lot on Gorrel Lake in Mecosta county and over the decades took her children and then grandchildren every weekend she could. To her, experiences were more important than things. She was extremely proud to take each of her grandchildren on a road trip to Disney World consequently instilling a love of travel and experiences over things in each of them. She was a dedicated friend, always making time for an evening of coffee and euchre with her “old cronies.”
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Paula Loughin on May 30, 1954; a son, Kenneth Loughin on August 3, 1981; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Lee Loughin on May 28, 2023; siblings and their spouses, Richard & Eloyce Brown, Donald & Joyce Ritter, Leslie & Linda Brown, Wanda Brown and Art & Sandy Bell.
Surviving are her son, Les Loughin of Greenville; her daughter, Terri Lynn Behrens of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, Kristy & Mike Vance of Lowell, Laura Loughin of Douglasville, Georgia, Michael Berhrens and Kevin Behrens, both of Chicago, Illinois, and Lynn Ann & Derek Tessman of Spokane, Washington; her great-grandchildren, Tori Lynn Behrens, Cody Behrens, Ally Behrens, Landry Vance, Oliver Vance, Adeline Vance, Trisha Doolittle, and Ryder Doolittle; and generations of nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. Honoring Darlene's wishes, no formal services will be held and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
