Darlene Angela Harkrader, age 86, of Belding, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. One of twelve children born to Charles James & Hazel Belle (White) Franklin, she was born on February 3, 1936 in Alpena. On July 31, 1976, in Fenwick, she married Cecil Ray Harkrader and together they enjoyed over 46 years of marriage. A devoted wife and loving mother, Darlene was a skilled baker and will long be remembered for her fresh baked bread. She had attended Jesus Non-Denominational Church in Greenville, enjoyed watching Westerns and Jimmy Swaggart on the television, and in more recent years delighted in her regular telephone visits with her brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Clint Franklin. Surviving are her husband, Ray Harkrader of Belding; her children, Alfreda, Donald, and Karen, all of New York, Debbie & Craig Campbell of Stanton, Carol & James Withers of Belding, Judy Burkett of Florida, John & Angie Mosley of Saranac, David & Brenda Mosley of Greenville, and Robert Mosley of Six Lakes; her step-children, Walter Ray Harkrader of Orleans, David Roger Harkrader of Edmore, Victoria & John Wheeler of Ionia, Medina White of Portland, and Shannon Harkrader-Crooks & Bill Crooks of Howard City; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; ten brothers and sisters, Floyd Franklin, Robert "Bob" Franklin, William "Bill" & Gloria Franklin, Dale & Darlene Franklin, Jerry Franklin, Pastor Karen & Delbert Morales. Donna Morse, Dennis & Julie Nelson, and Linda & Ron Pastor; and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation with the family is from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Friday at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with a concluding prayer service beginning at 12:00 Noon, officiated by the Rev. Tommy D. Turner, Sr., senior pastor of Jesus Non-Denominational Church. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
