Danny Allen

Danny Ray Allen, age 58, of Big Rapids and formerly of Detroit, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek. The son of Daniel & Joanne (Scott) Allen, he was born on December 23, 1952 in Detroit. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Dan served aboard the U.S.S. Pluck... a mine sweeper that patroled the coastal waters of Vietnam. He had worked in the construction trades. Survivors include his sister, Loretta Spindler of Grosse Pointe Woods. Committal services, with military honors rendered by the U.S. Navy, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Arrangements were entrusted to the Michigan Cremation Company, Grand Rapids.
