Daniel Rivera

Daniel Sanchez Rivera, age 69, passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a battle with cancer Wednesday, January 4, 2023. He was born November 28, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Encarnacion & Petra (Sanchez) Rivera. He is survived by his wife, Alejandra, his daughters- Danielle Espinosa, Anna (Troy) Rankin, and Maxine Rivera (Jose Santos), his step-children- Cristian Antonio and Jasmin Alejandra, his 13 grandchildren- Lexi Rivera Martinez, Cassandra Rankin-Thomas, Oscar Malacara, Daniel Rosas, Dakota Rivera, William Griffor III, Michael Cruz, Jada Rankin, Encarnacion Rivera, Troy Rankin Jr., David Cruz, and Emiliano Santos and his 12 great-grandchildren. His sisters and brothers in-love- Linda (Frank) Huron and Lisa (Robert) Thayer and many-many nieces & nephews. He loved his family and spending time with them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, but his three granddaughters were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed spending his time outside in nature, loved camping, and loved being out on the lake fishing. He was always joking around and made time to laugh. One of his favorite things to do was share his life's stories. One you heard one of them you would not forget it! He always had a quick and witty response. He loved his job and was very proud of his work as an upholsterer. Daniel had many friends that he held in such special regards, such as his coworkers at Appearance Products, Jimmy Thomson, Fred Janiskee, Dave Pepper, Franco Carcini, lifelong friend, Sue Escareno, and so many more. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings- Esperanza Narvaiz, Nahum Rivera, Gloria Huerta, Anthony Rivera, David Rivera, and Cecilia Thayer, and his great-grandson, Xavion Rankin-Thomas. Cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time. Per his wishes, the memorial will be a Spring ceremony with close family and friends, it will be in Holland, Michigan at Tunnel Park, date TBD.
