Dan Ray Davis left this earth a better place on the last day of May in the year of 2023.
Dan was born August 28th, 1954 to Calvin and Betty (Biltz) Davis in his hometown of Pierceton, IN.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sheryl (McMichael) Davis, whom he's loved dearly, his two sons and two step-daughters, Timothy Allen Davis, Christopher Michael Davis (Megan Immerzeel-Davis), Monte Tyler, and Paula Kennedy, grandson, Jack Jameson Davis, and his two loving sisters, Marjean McClarnon and Tammy Davis.
Dan wore many hats in life. Husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, boss, coach. But Dan was also a poet, a stop-you-in-your-boots vocalist, a songwriter, a comedian, an athlete, a die-hard IU Basketball fan, a fisherman, a serious birdwatcher, an animal dad and lover, a hitchhiker, a dreamer, a teacher, and a complicated human who spent his lifetime trying to rise above his raising while ferociously fighting for those down on their luck.
This day and those to come, Dan will be missed by many, forgotten by few, and a forever complicated, perfectly simple, and incredibly special kind of man.
Dan had a way of saying his "see ya next times."
So, keep it far out, Nanu Nanu Shazbot, and dad, I'll catch you on the flip side.
I've always been watching and thank you for being our dad. - Slugger
