Dale A Sheler Sr., age 88, of West Olive, Michigan, went home Sunday, June 23, 2024, to be with those who went before him. He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy; son, Dale Jr; daughter, Wendy (Mark) Powell; granddaughter, Lynsey (Kyle) North and their daughter Maeve; brothers, Daryl Sheler and Dick (Nancy) Sheler; sister- in- Law, Pat Van Loo (Ron); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma in 1995; infant daughter, Julie; parents, Daniel Webster Sheler and Nettie (Anastasia); brothers, Daniel Webster (Jean) Sheler Jr and David (Fran) Sheler; and sister-in-law, Pearl Sheler.
Dale proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany after WWII. He married his first wife Thelma in 1957. They moved to their forever home in Robinson Township, Michigan in 1966, a place they both loved. They met wonderful neighbors and lifelong friends.
Dale had a career as a journeyman union sheet metal fabricator, a trade his father and two brothers worked in. In 1958 Dale competed in a national sheet metal apprentice competition in sheet metal design, layout and fabrication against several thousand other apprentices from all over the US. He won the competition that year.
Dale met his second wife, Dorothy after he retired in 2005. They enjoyed staying at a cottage on Lake Michigan and a winter home in Florida. Dale’s life-long hobby was keeping busy doing something, which was mostly cutting wood or mowing his three-acre lawn or helping anyone who asked for it.
Dale will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors.
Per Dale’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
