Dale Myron Clevenger, age 90, of Stanton, Michigan, was called home unexpectedly on Friday, October 23, 2026 while spending time in the woods cutting fire wood behind his beloved church, Day Bethel Baptist.
The son of Clarence Henry & Tressie Flossora (Buskirk) Clevenger, he was born on September 22, 1936 near Stanton, Michigan and was a life-long area resident.
On June 22, 1957, at Pine Grove Church near Stanton, he married Joyce Lucile Brand and together they raised four children, were active members of Day Bethel Baptist Church, and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Joyce passed away on January 5, 2015.
Dale retired from the former General Tire plant in Ionia, had served as sexton of the McBride Cemetery for many years, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing euchre at the Curtis Community Building in Edmore. He had served as a trustee and deacon at Day Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Tressie Clevenger; his wife, Joyce Clevenger; two sisters, Lois Clevenger and Dorothy Funch; three brothers, Nile Clevenger, Ivan Clevenger, and Roland Clevenger; and several siblings-in-law.
Surviving are his children, Craig & Maureen Clevenger, Arlen & Kelly Clevenger, Nelda & Brian Anderson, and Jason & Sara Clevenger; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Janna, Ben, Mari, Kayla, Jace and Julia; three sisters-in-law, Doris Clevenger, Betty & Don Ward, and Phyllis Dehnert; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at Day Bethel Baptist Church, 2181 N. Wyman Road, Stanton, Michigan, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Pastor Eric Hagerman will officiate and a luncheon will follow the ceremony. As Dale wished, burial will take place privately at McBride Cemetery.
