Curtis F. Johnson

July 5, 1940 — May 8, 2025

Curtis F. Johnson, a loving and spirited man of Cedar Springs, Michigan, passed away on May 8, 2025. Born on July 5, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Curtis lived a creative and fulfilling life. He was a tool and die maker by trade, spending the majority of his career with General Motors in Flint and Ypsilanti, before retiring in 2009. Despite his professional achievements, what mattered most to Curtis was his family, including his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Curtis was known for his talented hands, particularly in the realm of woodworking. Many will remember the beautiful pieces he created, each one demonstrating the careful precision honed over years of practice. Aside from his craftsmanship, Curtis was a man of simple pleasures. He loved spending time at Lake Superior, playing dominoes, and relishing in the company of loved ones. His spirited nature was evident in all aspects of his life, and he will be deeply missed by many. Curtis is survived by his wife, Mariya; his children, Boyd Johnson, Michaela LaVelle, Russell Johnson, and Suzanne Rohrs; his step-daughters, Karina and Tamila; and his siblings, Kristin Miller and Eric Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Catherine Johnson; his son, Paul Johnson; and his daughter, Heidi Redman. We encourage all who knew and loved Curtis to share their memories and photos on his memorial page at: www.MichiganCremation.com. His legacy lives on not just in his family, but also in the stories and experiences shared by those who knew him best. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, 616-754-5638.
