Cory A. Monroe, age 47, of Lansing, passed away April 28, 2019. Cory was born May 19, 1971, in Westminster, California to Dean W. Monroe and Connie L. Silvers.
Cory was a graduate from Everett High School in Lansing and proudly served as a Patient Administration Specialist with the 2nd Medical Field Hospital in the US Army. Cory worked for City Limits in Mason as a cook.
Cory had a large heart and an infinite capacity to love. He loved all animals, kids and babies and cared for them as if they were his own. Cory made a mean pizza and you could tell by the way he wore his work. His infectious laugh drew people to him so they could witness his brilliant jokes and wit. Cory was always there to provide you with a random piece of knowledge and he was your human GPS, making his family consider him the original Google. He had a personality all his own; he enjoyed books, television and movies, especially science-fiction. He was always up for a craft beer and a trivia style competition and was rarely ever bested.
Cory is survived by his loving mother, Connie L. Silvers (Walter Smith); father, Dean W. (Debora) Monroe; stepfather, Ed Thelen; grandmother, Dorothy Keene; his sisters, Wendy (Michael) Totoris, Michelle Hannay (Kurt Baughman), Lori (Derek) Feier, and Denise Monroe (and her beloved Cathy who passed one day later); stepbrothers, Ryan and Chad Wagner; 12 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Cory was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Silvers, LaVera Clark, and Bill Monroe and his brother-in-law, Steven D. Hannay.
Please join Cory's family and friends for a celebration of Cory's life at City Limits, 801 Cedar St, Mason, on May 17, 2019, at 3pm. There will be an additional private event for family and close friends to plant a tree in Cory's honor at the home of his sister on May 19th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the humane society or your local pet rescue.
