Constance Swets

Constance Irene Swets, age 66, of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday morning, August 15, 2011 at her home, with her husband by her side, under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice. The daughter of Forrest Forddy and Constance (Hollister) Anderson, she was she was born on December 14, 1944 in Kenosha, Wisconsin and worked for many years as a registered nurse at Metropolitan Hospital and more recently at Heartland Hospice. She loved her career and was dedicated to helping others. An avid gardener and baker, she loved to share her baked goods with co-workers and patients. Surviving are husband, Thomas Swets; children, Robert (Terry Zimmerman) White, Michael (Ana) White, Benjamin White, Laurye Brunson, and Benjamin (Molly Rundquist) Swets; sisters, Barbara Anderson and Tracey Bookout; brother, Forrest Frosty (DeEtte) Anderson Jr.; grandchildren, Shay Brunson, Daniel Brunson, Logan Brunson, Lucas Brunson, Elise White, Autumn White, Ian White, Fiona Zimmerman, Lachlan White and Madeline Swets; siblings-in-law, David and Lynne Swets, Jack and Jess Swets, Mary and Norm DeGraaf. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings-in-law, Julius and Shirley Mellema. Visitation is Wednesday from 6:308:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-3 p.m. at Genesis United Methodist Church, 1601 Galbraith Ave. S.E., (off of Cascade Rd.), Grand Rapids, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Honoring her wishes, cremation will follow the service. Instead of flowers, Connie would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church.
