Connie Wotring, age 57, of Battle Creek, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021. She was born on October 3, 1963, in Kennett Missouri, to Elvie and Nellie (Faulkerson) McElyea. Connie Wotring was a proud mother and grandmother. As she should - being a single mom raising five boys on her own is an incredible task in and of itself. She was the mom that showed up to every school event and made sure her boys were able to attend every field trip. She loved all of her children for not only their achievements, but also for their shortcomings. As a mom, Connie taught her boys from a young age what responsibilities were and that you work for what you earn. Connie was also a great example for her boys. She taught each of them how to treat women right based on her own life experiences to make sure they grew up to be gentlemen. There were many things that Connie loved to do with her spare time. She was an avid reader, enjoyed taking her boys fishing, going to arcades, grilling with the family, drive-in movies, camping, traveling and a weekend at Silver Lake, followed by ice cream after a long day on the sand dunes. Connie was the "weekend getaway queen", always finding something to do to live her life to the fullest. She was also a force to be reckoned with. She was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in. She was as stubborn and bullheaded as the day was long. Connie will be missed dearly by all of her sons and all of the people's lives that she touched.
Connie is survived by her five sons, Brandon, Dustin, Ricky, Michael Wotring and Fred Jones; nephew, Glenn Eugene McElyea Jr.; siblings, Marylin Sue Morgan and Buddie M. McElyea; siblings in law, Linda Gail McElyea and Addie McElyea; and life long friend, David Baxter.
Connie is preceded in death by both of her parents and brother Glenn McElyea Sr.
