Cody Dean Whaley, age 23, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 3, 2014 in Tallassee, Alabama. Born on April 5, 1991 in Grand Rapids, he attended Greenville Public Schools and will be remembered by those who loved him with a smile on his face.
Cody Dean lived a life of adventure and was a four-time state champion motorcross rider, loved dirt bikes, was an avid fisherman, and had even been a mixed martial arts fighter.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bruce Whaley and Dennis Beebe.
Surviving are his father, Tony & Chi Whaley of Greenville; his mother, Colleen & David Reid of Grand Haven; his girlfriend, best friend, and his rock, Jessica Gray of Tallassee, Alabama; his grandmothers, Dalena Murray of Lakeview and Carole Beebe of Grand Haven; five brothers and a sister, Joshua Whaley of Belding, Catrina Whaley of Sparta, Brandon Reid and Quinten Reid, both of Grand Haven, and Blake Whitcomb and Logan Whitcomb, both of Greenville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial services are at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Phillip Mills, pastor of Greenville Bible Methodist Church, officiating.
A luncheon will immediately follow at the Greenville Community Center, 900 E. Kent Road, Greenville, where relatives and friends are invited to share in a time of food, fellowship, and remembrances of Cody Dean.
Envelopes for memorial contributions to the family will be available at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and private interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
