Clifford Bergeron

Clifford Merlin "Cliff" Bergeron, age 64, of Gowen, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids following a sudden stroke. In death, Cliff gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. The son of Clifford Joseph & Virginia Mardell (Harrington) Bergeron, he was born on May 20, 1958 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. On September 15, 1990, in Greenville, he married Cheryl Marie Williams and together they enjoyed 32 years of marriage. Affectionately known as "Skip" by his family, he was known as "Cliff" to friends and co-workers. Cliff retired as a supervisor from Wal-Mart where he worked at both the Grandville and Greenville stores. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock hunting, searching for treasures with his metal detector, playing disc golf, and traveling, as well as playing guitar, but most of all he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert Joseph Bergeron and Willard John Bergeron. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Bergeron of Gowen; his children, Amii Richardson, Mark & Leslie Redding, Casey Schaefer, Melissa Lutz, Amanda & Cameron Allen, Jessica Bergeron, Matthew Bergeron, Hannah Bergeron, Cindy & Wayne Stratton, and David Lutz; his grandchildren, Reece, Hayden, Landon, Wyatt, Brenden, Corbin, Sybil, Hannah, Sarah, Blake, Norah, Ty, Tyler, Rory, and Zander; a great-granddaughter, Quincey; three sisters, Mary Ann "Molly" & Keith Bumstead, Tina & Michael Britz, and Marty Jo Bergeron; his father-in-law, Lewis Williams & Marilyn Rhoades of Greenville; siblings-in-law, Steven & Kristen Williams, Michael & Melissa Williams, Ann Rector, Gary Williams, and Holly & Michael Wiltfong; and many nieces and nephews. The family invites relatives and friends to celebrate Cliff's life beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post No. 101, 1320 W. Washington Street, Greenville. Please come as your schedule allows and share in a time of food, fellowship, and memories until 4:00 p.m. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, 616-754-5638.
