View Video Tribute Mrs. Clara Emma Brown, age 88, of Gowen, passed away Saturday evening, July 7, 2007 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus in Greenville. The daughter of Oscar Richard & Olga (Dreger) Waynor, she was born on March 1, 1919 in Iselin, New Jersey. In 1941, she married Floyd Chester Roberts, and they made their home in Wayne until Floyd passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 1962. As a young widow responsible for the support of her family, she began a career in food service management for Oscoda Public Schools, retiring as cafeteria manager. On June 28, 1975, in Detroit, she married William B. Bill Brown and they eventually came to the area, where Bill still owns and operates his barbershop in downtown Greenville. A dedicated wife and mother, Clara always placed the needs of her family first. She was an excellent cook and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 32 years, William B. "Bill" Brown of Gowen; three children, Richard Waynor Roberts, and his fianc Angela Rowlins, of Garden City, Mariann Frances Roberts of Alpena, and Roxanne Marie & Jack) Singletary of Ozark, Missouri; three grandchildren, Lori Ann & Jamie Bowling of Garden City, Jennifer Clare & David Dunn of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Arthur Jack A.J. Singletary of St. Louis, Missouri; five half-siblings, Greta Waynor, Irene Waynor, Hugo Waynor, and Karl Waynor, all of The Villages, Florida, and Martin & Gladys Waynor of Edison, New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Marie Rinnes of South Lyons, and Beverly & Richard Banks of Green Bush; a special niece, Nancy & Ken Faw, and their children, Christy Rose and David, all of Clarkston; and many other loved nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with Pastor Jeff Wilhelm officiating. Burial will follow at Little Denmark Cemetery, Gowen. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions are available.
