Chris L. Starr, age 62, of Lyons passed away on July 2, 2026. He was born on April 21, 1964, the son of William and Wanda Starr.

Preceding Chris in death were his parents; his brothers/sisters-in-law Harold Smith, Leon Smith, John Scheurer, Betty Cavanaugh, and Elaine and Ron Gamble.

Chris is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Gladys; stepchildren Angela (Steven) Jenks and Joel (Melissa) Bollinger; brothers Jon (Linda) Starr and Joe (Sara) Starr; brothers/sisters-in-law, Clara Smith, Sandy Smith, Norm and Marijane Smith, Barbarba and Jake Eager, Marie Scheurer, and Pat Cavanaugh; and various nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chris was born and raised in the Lansing area and graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1982. He was awarded a scholarship from LCC which allowed him to earn a degree in HVAC technology, reflecting his love and dedication to the trade. In 1985 Chris became founder, owner, and operator of “CLS Mechanical, Inc.” where he took tremendous pride in being part of and contributing to the industry, and even more so, demonstrated his devotion to helping and serving others and the community. Chris will forever be remembered for his genuine, personable, and hands-on approach as a skilled, valued, and loving colleague and friend.

Chris met the love of his life, Gladys and they married on June 7, 2003. Chris would give you the shirt off his back, loved talking with anyone about everything and anything, and was sure to put a smile or chuckle on the face of anyone who came into contact or met him. Throughout his life, Chris thoroughly enjoyed attending air shows, learning everything he could about history, traveling with his wife and enjoying nature.

A private celebration of life will be held for family only.

One of the most meaningful ways to celebrate his life is by planting a tree in his honor – a living reminder of the strength, kindness and love he shared with others.
